We remembered this place from the last time we were in fort Myers beach, 7 years ago. Amazingly, I'm sure we had the same waitress. We love the atmosphere and live music. It's a cool place to relax for lunch. The food was great and the service was friendly.

Grouper bites were awesome! Good spot near the beach and live music. Didn't order any other food but bet it would have been good. The birds nearby will try to steal your food.

Let me get right to the chase. The service was slow and the food was decent. There was nothing that amazing about the place or something negative that stood out. It was average.

Stopped in for lunch. Outstanding fish tacos!! Big Ten Tournament on TV and outstanding live music...and friendly service!
(5)S K.
The wings here are ok!!! But I have never been to a place where If a person ordering wings gets charged to have blue cheese to dip your wings in...

Good location, friendly waitstaff. Cold beer. WORST BURGER EVER!!! It tasted like a cheap grocery store frozen burger bought in bulk. Waitress said it was the best burger on the beach, but for $10, I cannot agree. The fries were mediocre, but good onion rings. I can't speak for other menu items, but I won't be returning.

Nice atmosphere. Food sucked. Ordered chicken sandwich. Had three times more bread and tomato than chicken. Fries had no salt and you could taste the old oil. Other than the people watching there isn't anything worthwhile about this place.

Had a late dinner here last night. Not bad. Beers are nice and cold. The 4 of us all got some sort of burger, and they were pretty decent. We were also starving so maybe that had something do to with it...anyway, don't come here and expect to be wowed. Take it for what it is: a place literally steps off the beach serving pretty decent bar food and ice cold beers. What more could you want after a hot day on the beach? Bonus points for being able to sit outside in your bathing suits, however bonus points immediately deducted after looking around and seeing every one else in their bathing suits. Some people just have no shame!!!

Is there a 2.5 star? 3 out of 5 stars is too generous for Pete's but 2 seems too mean. But the description for 2 stars was..."Meh" which is pretty descriptive. I wouldn't rule out going back ....The Fort Myers Beach times square area really lacks good eateries to begin with and they welcomed not one, not two, but all FOUR dogs in our party (albeit our dogs are super clean and well behaved). Our server was very friendly and perfectly efficient. This is probably a better place to go grab a beer and some fries or a sandwich while hanging out at the beach than to go specifically for the food. My friend got a seriously boring grilled chicken salad that was mostly iceburg lettuce although there was a lot of it! Her husband's wings were pretty standard for fairly sub par wings. I got a "homemade" Bratworst which came with grilled saurkraut on a hoagie type roll with french fries. I asked if they could add grilled peppers and onions. They didn't have peppers and I got a side of raw onions. Oh well. It was ok.

I went for lunch and got the lunch special which is a slice of pizza, salad and drink. i got a slice of pizza which was mushroom and sausage. And an arugula goat cheese salad.

I have been going to Pete's for a looooong time.....back when you could still drive a car through times square. Now the street is closed and only pedestrian traffic is allowed. I haven't eaten many thing on Pete's menu over the years....mostly I have enjoyed the view and an adult beverage or two. I don't come for the food though. GREAT place to people watch. The fare is typical bar food with some seafood mixed in. I can say I have never had a bad meal at Pete's. If you are on the beach you have to go and have a drink at Pete's.

Food is pretty good. Wait staff are stressed and sometimes seem rude or partial to different customers, depending on their mood. This establishment needs more help.
(2)Jeremy L.
It's a sidewalk cafe next to the public beach access. Outdoor seating and plenty of people watching available. Standard bar type menu with some seafood. I really enjoyed the Cajun seasoned fries and my companions thought the jambalaya was very good as well. Have a seat, and a beer to rest your weary legs.

Sad to see Pete's has low reviews. We didn't eat here but Todd, our server, was prompt and polite, they had a great guitarist and we had fun.

This is an outdoor cafe directly adjacent to the beach -- some of your fellow patrons will likely be wearing their swimsuits and there will be at least one guy who thinks it's acceptable to take off his shirt while eating. They have a typical menu for some greasy beach food and sandwiches and this is definitely where we go when we come off the beach starving for a cold beer and some food. You don't go here because of the quality of the food -- you go here because it's so close, you'll still have sand stuck to your feet when you arrive. That said, the food really isn't bad and is probably pretty good compared to some of the other options around. The beers are usually very cold, which is important too. My fish sandwich was pretty good and their fries are pretty good too. Watch out for the birds, though -- years of people feeding them has given the crows an expectation that the french fry you are lifting to your mouth is actually for them. We watched a crow snag a fry literally out of the hand and mouth of the girl sitting next to us.

Very friendly atmosphere ! Outside patio was very pleasant especially if sitting by the fan misters. The menu was actually pretty big for a quick bite to eat type of place . If able to order the surf and turf I would strongly recommend it. Service was also great - if you are looking for a place in the square to eat , this is one of the few I would go back to.

Been back here 3 times and plan to go again tomorrow and everything remains the same: great breakfast!!

Before receiving my wrongly made cheeseburger sliders topped with an ingredient that I was highly allergic to, of which I exclusively informed the server of, and of which copious amounts were added, she left a tray of others drinks ON OUR TABLE as we were eating. Then when I politely asked my order to be remade correctly, the server told me not without paying for another and then her hands snatched my plate away from the table faster than a chameleon's tongue on a fly. Would not recommend. 0/10 . Amateur staff. No service!!!!

Typical touristy beach joint. Slow Service, Barely Edible Food. Crab cake wasn't too bad but friends had a salad which had only discolored lettuce and severely over cooked grilled chicken. the waitress too her sweet time although she was not ill tempered so that was a slight plus. live music was good

Grouper bites were really good. Like really good. The rum runner was VERY strong. We sat at the bar. Bartenders very attentive and it's spring break. Went to 3 other establishments before this and it was disappointing. This place is spot on!
(4)Amy E.
We were seated immediately and were greeted by a friendly waitress. Two guests had frozen cocktails and one person a beer. Appetizers of grouper bites and onion rings were ordered and shared. Both were delicious and the dipping sauce was tasty. One person ordered another round of grouper bites, as a meal, because she enjoyed it so much. Giant hamburger was cooked to perfection, blackened fish sandwich was spiced nicely - not over powering, and the mahi salads' portion size was just enough. At times, the music became too loud but was enjoyable sitting outside.

Went there on our last day of vacation, it was pretty packed. The food was just okay. I had a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich. The bun was about 10x the size of the chicken breast, I had to remove the top half just so I could taste the chicken. The fries were average. Service was quick and our server was very friendly. It was hard maneuvering in between tables and chairs to get to an open table. I was rather disappointed, the crowd made it seem like a great place for dinner but the food left little to be desired.

I loved this place - totally casual - guy playing the guitar - it was just what I was looking for. It was our first day of vacation and first time at Fort Meyers beach and we just walked around until something sounded good. We didn't eat but has a few beers - servers were SO nice / patrons were also nice and the live music was good and fun.

Great food I got the grouper bites with coconut. It was very tasty and had great service! Only problem was we had to leave the area because some creepy old drunk perv man was taking photos of my sister and me for a "art project." But they stopped serving him. (Thank god!) beach is super close not even a minute walk!!!! Will come back! If it wasn't for the perv I would have given it 5 stars!
(4)Daniel W.
Loved it! By far the BEST wings I have ever had!!! With the combination of the views, the food and the music I didn't want to leave. Best place on Ft. Myers Beach, IMO
(5)James D.
Everyone had great food. We'll definately be back again soon. Make sure you try the cornbread. Special bonus: one of the people in our party was under the weather so our waitress brought her a cold towel and toast. What a sweetheart. Thanks, Kathie.

Okay. To be fair, this was our second visit to Pete's. First time around (last year) was great. This time around, not so much. There were 4 of us. Live music was fantastic - perfect selection of music. It was a rainy evening so turnout was light so we figured service would be pretty good since it wasn't so busy. Service was fair. Food, not great at all! Onion rings $7.25 - we got 5 and 3 of them were fried together. They were undercooked and mushy. (Last visit - they were excellent). I ordered the chicken sandwich which was so tough I couldn't even cut my sandwich in half. Sent it back and Server asked how much of it I ate. Hmmm. Needless to say, another one was made for me but it wasn't that much better and I was still charged. None of the food was that great this time around. Pretty sure we won't be back. Prices were high for the food but you're by the beach. My opinion: if you want to swing in for some great live music and a drink, this is your place. It's close to the pier so it's convenient. Otherwise, hard pass.

Sat outside and enjoyed listening to the live band play while sipping my delicious pineapple mojito! Hard to eat healthy here, except for the peel and eat shrimp.
(4)Veronica J.
Came here for dinner. Was not impressed. I had the shrimp boil. the corn was overcooked. The shrimp was rubbery. Was not a fan at all.

We went here last night after arriving for a weeklong vacation. We were looking for somewhere to people watch, have a few beers and get something to eat. People watching was fine and live music was just around the corner and the atmosphere was lively but not too crowded. On my mother in law's suggestion, we ordered the shrimp boil for four. After about 10 minutes the food came out and the corn was only partially done and the sausage was cold inside. I flagged down a waitress who took care of the problem by replacing the entire order with one that was piping hot. Very friendly and apologetic. The manager also came by to ask if the problem had been corrected at the end of our meal, but no offer for a round of drinks or anything like that. The second time around, the meal was good though the corn on the Cobb was clearly frozen, not fresh. The shrimp was decent and sausage was excellent. Overall, a good casual spot where I appreciated their approach to correcting their mistake. Nothing life-changing, though.

Decent food. Good value considering the price. Very friendly and attentive (without driving you crazy) service.
(3)Roger F.
Grouper diner was great. Baked potatoe seemed to have been nuked, kind of rubberized green beans not to bad.
(3)Andrea A.
Even though every table was full, the servers were speedy and friendly, and the food came out quickly. My fella had the Cajun mahi mahi sandwich, and I had the homemade crab cake sandwich -- both were delicious. Add in the live acoustic music, and it was a damn fine meal.

GO to Petes for an AWESOME breakfast!! This place is a fav of mine and I could go there everyday!!! Even scrambled eggs, bacon and wheat toast is da bomb!!
(5)Eddie L.
Went here with my wife and son yesterday (6/25/15). The usual beach oriented dive. Could have been awesome if not for the foolishly gouging price of the peel and eat shrimp. ($34.95/pound!!!!) I get the concept of screwing the tourists and as well, charge whatever the market will bear.. But, really.. THAT was incredibly stupid. We went (twice) in the last two days to Yucatan a block away and paid less than half (menu posted price) for peel and eat local shrimp nearly twice the size. UNBELIEVABLE. The other disappointment in Pete's was the waitress who lacked a smile and personality the whole time we were there until she handed us our bill. With so many other good options in this area for drinks and an atmosphere, I would recommend anywhere other than Pete's.

The drinks were great. The girls had a lava flow (mix of piña colada and run runner), perfect after a day on the water. I had a corona, beer list was limited. They did carry the kolsh from ft myers brewing, however. We only had apps, but they were tasty and reasonable, albeit a bit boring. Peel and eat shrimp were fresh.
(4)Chris C.
Waited an hour for wings, server looked like he was the only one there. Food was good once it arrived but not worth the wait and service.
